Making the Most of Soils for Grassland

A practical course for farming families.

Why?

Soil compaction

Reduces grass yield- Cost £100 -£200/ ha

Reduces response to fertiliser by up to 50% - Doubling the cost of production

Planned applications of manures and fertilisers

Save money- In 2011 a Farming Connect Demonstration farm saved £4000 on fertiliser by   following a GDC nutrient management plan

Participants Will

·         Find out how texture, structure and soil health affect grassland production
