As of the 1st January 2012, Glastir will replace the current agri-environment schemes (Tir Mynydd, Tir Gofal, Tir Cynnal and Organic Farming Scheme). Farmers were able to declare interest in joining Glastir on the 2010 SAF in readiness for applications from October 2010 onwards. The purpose of the training courses is to help farmers identify and understand habitats and options on their farms in order to complete their Glastir applications successfully and accurately.
Training Courses
The training courses are fully funded and open to all farmers interested in applying for the All Wales Element of Glastir with no need to pre book a place on the course. Events are also open to other interested parties (e.g. Farming Unions, Consultants, Stakeholders etc). The dates and venues of the training events are being publicised on our website and through Gwlad, e-bulletin, mailshot and the farming press (link here to “dates of events”).
The objectives of the training events will be to enable attendees to: -
- Understand the All Wales Element of Glastir, including the Whole Farm Code, the 39 options available and the Regional Packages.
- Be able to identify and differentiate between agriculturally improved and habitat land.
- Be able to identify and suitability of relevant options (from the 39 options in the All Wales Element of Glastir) on own holdings.
- Be able to accurately identify specific habitat land and to measure areas / part parcels accurately in order to complete applications.
